Michigan's Newest Board and Commission Appointments

Governor Whitmer has announced appointments to several Michigan boards and commissions. Among the list of changes are the following new and returning appointees:

  • Health Information Technology Commission: Janée Tyus (succeeds Renee Smiddy)
  • Michigan Council for Rehabilitation Services: Laurie Penfold (succeeds Karen Schulz)
  • Governor’s Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect: Claudnyse Holloman (reappointed)
  • Michigan Board Optometry: Dr. Paul Hodge (succeeds Lisa Webb Sharpe)
  • Board of Interpreters for the Deaf, Deafblind, and Hard of Hearing: Miriam Andare Cuevas (reappointed), Myles Hudkins (succeeds Leslie Pertz)
  • Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council: Iris Mehler (reappointed), Alexandra Hayes (succeeds Angel Irvin), Colleen Sullivan (succeeds Elizabeth Kohler), Jason Reaves (reappointed), Ray Schuholz (reappointed), Sheryl Stumbaugh (reappointed), and Nicholas Gable (succeeds Mark McWilliams)

The Governor has announced new appointments and reappointments to several state boards and commissions. Below is a summary of some of the latest appointments

  • Board of Chiropractic: Cecil Forbes (reappointed)

  • Board of Interpreters for the Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing: April Davidson and Mitchell Holaly (both reappointed).

  • Board of Licensed Midwifery: Sarah Andrews (succeeding Heather Robinson) and Celeste Groenenberg (reappointed).

  • Board of Occupational Therapy: Cristian LaBar (reappointed).

  • Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery: Ronald Bishop (reappointed).

  • Board of Physical Therapy: Benjamin Eggleston (succeeding Nora Cascardo).

  • Board of Psychology: Harper West and Melissa Grey (both reappointed).

Governor Whitmer Announces New Cabinet Members & Executive Office Staff

Update: Feb 13-Mar 1, 2024

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced new appointments and staff members for key positions in her administration. Marlon Brown will take on the role of Director at the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), bringing his extensive experience in public service to the department. Suzanna Shkreli has been selected as the new Commissioner of the Michigan Bureau of State Lottery, with a strong background in juvenile justice reform and government service.

Additionally, several promotions and hires have been made within the executive office, including Shelia Marshall-Curtis as Chief Compliance Officer and Vignesh Meyyappan as Associate Legal Counsel.

Former acting commissioner of the Lottery, Jessica Weare, has accepted a new position within state government.
